144 - WAIT ON THE LORD, JAN 6, 2016

Waiting on God, what does waiting mean?

1 – Wait means to wait with quiet trust. It is a form of waiting that is built upon deep relational trust. It is when we have come to know the Lord well enough that our hearts can be still and trust the Lord in the midst of life’s challenging circumstances and situations. It is knowing the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord so that the Lord doesn’t have to speak to us or show us any signs and wonders in order for us to be at peace in the mist of challenging circumstances and situations that would terrorize others. Moses and Joshua come to mind when I think about waiting with quiet trust in the Lord. They were great leaders of God’s people because they learned to trust God.

2 – Another kind of wait is more commonly thought of as waiting patiently. It is from the place of trust developed through intimate relationship that we come to know without a doubt that God will eventually come through and we are just content in waiting. We have walked with the Lord long enough to know that He is always faithful to His promises and He is always right. David comes to mind here because he developed an intimate relationship with the Lord while a shepherd and so He knew God was with him and he could kill the giant Goliath.

3 – Wait implies an active faith. With the deep relational trust we have in the Lord, that faith requires action on our part. It is required that we wait on the Lord with action while being full of expectancy for what He has promised us, rather than just sitting back and hoping or wondering if He will come through for us. Our assurance that God will move on our behalf compels us to live a life of radical obedience, make some real bold declarations of faith, take some risky steps of faith without losing heart if there is a prolonged season before seeing any evidence of the answer or change. You just rest assured in God’s promises to you that you will reap what you sow. The person who comes to my mind with this kind of wait is Abraham our father of faith. He left all that was familiar to him and all of his family and started traveling with God, not knowing where God would lead him. He also called himself Abraham, meaning father of a multitude, long before there was any evidence of any children.

4 – Wait also means to be braided together with something or someone. This kind of waiting is referred to in Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. AMP In this strength we will not grow weary and we will not faint. This wait is translated as qavah in Hebrew and means “to bind together by twisting, to become braided together”. It is through this waiting we become one with the Lord. In the waiting process that occurs from a relationship position the Lord draws us close to Him in such a way that our hearts become one. Bound together like the strands of a cord we feel His same emotions and think His same thoughts; resulting in a multiplication of strength for accomplishing His will. This is the fulfillment of Proverbs 16:3 “Roll your works on the Lord, commit and trust them completely to Him, and He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable with His. And so shall your plans be established and succeed.” AMP Our Lord Jesus Christ comes to mind with this kind of wait because Jesus said that He only said what He heard the Father saying and He only did what He saw the Father doing and He was moved with compassion, the compassion of the Father and healed them all.

5 – Another wait is actually what we would call weight. This is the heavy, substantive, weighty presence of God’s glory. The Hebrew word for glory actually means “heavy or weighty.” The early Church comes to mind when I think about this kind of wait as they waited in the upper room. If we are willing to wait on the Lord in these days, trusting, patiently, expectantly and becoming one with the Lord then I know we are going to experience the Lord coming with the same weight of His glory. We are going to see the Lord God Jehovah coming to awaken neighborhoods, cities and regions and whole nations and cause His weighty, Shekinah, abiding glory to dwell among us and within us. Just as Adam was crowned with God’s glory and saturated in the Lord’s presence, we too who bear His image and likeness will be crowned with God’s glory. With God’s weighty presence on us we shall be God’s government in the earth. We will walk in great authority and power with signs and wonders and miracles following us. The Church will be a sign and a wonder in the earth. As it was in the days of the Book of Acts church, people are going to recognize the True and Living God through us and we will say, such as we have we give to you. (Acts 3:6) It is now the time for the true sons of God to be made manifested, revealed in the earth and the whole earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. This is the time of God’s manifested glory in the earth as has never been seen before.

This is the time for us to live in the revelation of God and His glory that He has wanted the Church to walk in all along. He is calling us to a higher place of understanding where we are fully aware that the Lord of glory lives inside of us, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit and the same power that was in Jesus resides within us to perform and exceed Jesus’ supernatural works. The Lord’s desire is now to raise up many “heavyweight” men and women who carry the cloud of God’s glory into every room they enter, carry the Lord’s glory into every sphere of influence in society which will deliver and transform entire neighborhoods, cities, entire nations, governments, education, business and all where the enemy has taken away from God’s Kingdom and God’s will on the earth!

The Lord is waiting on each one of us to be willing to wait, wait, wait, wait, wait on Him until the glorious weight of His presence and power intensifies with us. This will require that for a time we will have to be willing to turn off the TV, social media or whatever consumes our time, clear our calendar so that we can have more of Him but this will be worth all the waiting when we experience the Lord’s glory and we see lives changed and our neighborhoods and cities and nations changed forever!

I am praying this revelation of waiting on the Lord will cause you to desire to wait upon the Lord,
• so that you come to know the Lord well enough that your heart can be still and you can trust the Lord in any challenging circumstances and situations you face,
• so that you never doubt the Lord will come through for you and you are content to wait on Him,
• so that while you are waiting you are full of expectancy for what He promised you and you are not sitting back and hoping and wondering if he is coming through for you but you put action to your faith and you make bold declarations of faith and take some risky steps of faith without losing heart if there is a prolonged season before seeing any evidence of the answer or change,
• so that you are drawn close to the Lord in such a way that you become one with Him in your thoughts and emotions and your way of doing things,
• and so that you experience the heavy, substantive, weighty presence of God’s glory and you take this glory wherever you go and bring glory to the Lord.
