Hearing the Father's Voice

John 12:28-30 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. KJV

Jesus heard the voice of the Father correctly.  The people standing there said that it thundered and others said an angel spoke to Jesus.

The problem is not how God speaks but the problem is us learning how He speaks or learning how to hear Him.

When God spoke here in this incident there was an audible voice but yet the people heard a clap of thunder because they were dull of hearing the voice of God.  There were some who realized it was something supernatural but thought it was an angel who spoke to Jesus.  Sad to say but that is the way it is with some Christians.

We have to grow in hearing the voice of God.  At first it’s like a clap of thunder.

It’s just like when you feel the check in your spirit and you sense you should not go to the store to purchase this particular item you wanted but yet you go and find the item is not in stock and then later you think back on the incident and you realize the Lord was trying to tell you not to go.  You recognized it was something supernatural.

It is just like some of these people who know it was supernatural but they thought it was an angel speaking to Jesus.

So when you first begin to hear the voice of God it is like a thunder clap, you just don’t recognize the voice of the Father speaking to you, you don’t recognize the Holy Spirit is moving on you. But I hope that you move on from thunder to it was supernatural and then to hearing accurately the way Jesus heard the voice of the Father.

As we open ourselves up to hearing the voice of the Father and we commit to doing what we hear even things like, “No don’t go to the store today,” then we will hear more and more clearly the voice of the Father.  I know that has been the situation with me.
