Hearing the Father's Voice
Have you ever picked up on the Lord’s presence in a church service or even when you were alone in prayer or worship? Your mind is like in the middle of a titter-totter, you are looking at the natural senses and yet you are continually in your mind checking down on the inside of you, your spirit, about sensing the presence of the Lord. You felt the Lord’s presence down on the inside of you.
There was one time I was a little depressed and felt unloved. That night I went to bed and I sensed the Lord was in the room although I didn’t see Him with my natural eyes but I could feel His presence and His love for me. It was a wonderful experience I will never forget. He didn’t come and place His arms around me but yet I felt His love like it just flooded the whole bedroom. I felt so appreciated and loved and cared for and I cried because His presence and His love were so real in that room that night. All of the depression left me and I didn’t feel sorry for myself and have a pity party any longer. I felt loved! I was sensing this in my spirit even though in the natural I saw no one nor did I feel any arms of embrace me but yet in the spirit it was as though I was embraced with His love.
I heard the story of a man who had been really busy and he was so tired and stress but when Jesus came into the church service that night and stood before him as he lay on the floor, Jesus’ robe went back and forth across his face. Every time that happened the man felt refreshed, energized and felt peace. He said there was an aroma to Jesus’ robe. It was very refreshing like an aroma therapy from heaven. He was smelling things in the spirit. The Lord told him to look it up what he had smelled on His garment. Here is the scripture he was led to read:
Ps 45:6-8 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.KJV
This scripture is a prophecy about Jesus. Jesus’ garments smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia.
What this man experienced was an example of his spirit man’s sense of smell in the spirit.
Spiritual senses are why we hear angels singing or smell something good (flower scent) or smell a bad odor (cancer or death) because Satan’s kingdom stinks. Odors are attached to sickness and disease and death and a heaviness.
It could be you are around a certain individual and when you look at them you just sense there is just something wrong with them physically, there is something in their body and you sense it even though they haven’t expressed to you any physical problem. It could be death or an illness. You can’t see the illness but you know it is there. The person is still breathing but you just sense a spirit of death on that person. The reason you picked up on that is every spiritual thing has a witness in the spirit.
A lot of times a person who has experienced one type of sin in their life like drug addiction or adultery or fornication or addiction to pornography and they will automatically pick up in their spirit man that an individual is involved in that same type of sin because that person knows what it feels like in their spirit
People who have grown up in a home where there has been abuse of alcohol know what an alcoholic spirit feels like in their spirit man. So when they see a person they take in natural information about them but something will hit their spirit, there will be a witness in their spirit, they will recognize there is an alcoholic spirit or there is alcohol abuse in that person’s life.
I am teaching you that your spirit man has eyes and with those spirit man’s eyes you can see in the spirit realm. Your spirit man has touch and taste and smell and hearing as well. How can we be sensitive in the spirit realm to those things that are in the spirit realm? We become more sensitive to the spirit realm by reason of use, checking back and forth from the physical realm to the spirit realm.
Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.KJV
Here’s an exercise you can do. There are angels around us all of the time and there could even be demons around us. How do we pick up on the angels around us? First, close your eyes for a while and pray in tongues
and just kind of sense if you can tell where someone is standing or see if you sense the presence of the Lord and where it is the most concentrated. Continue to focus on that area and you can start to see an image and maybe as you continue to focus your attention in the spirit you will see the angel or even the Lord.
Again our spirit man has senses of taste, touch, smell, hearing and seeing. That is why people have seen angels and heard angels singing in the worship service.
I encountered a beautiful spiritual scent from heaven one day as I was working on my computer in an office in my home and all of a sudden I smelled very strongly the scent of a rose or more like a Peony flower and there were no flowers in the room or the adjoining rooms. I knew it was a scent from the spirit realm, a heavenly scent. There was no natural evidence of flowers in the room but I sensed it through my spirit senses.
Maybe you have experienced going into a person’s home and there is such peace and love. There have been a number of people who have come to our home and as they are here they sense the peace of God. They just felt peace and not that they sensed it with their physical senses or body but they just felt a peace they didn’t feel before they came in the door of our home. There was one individual who came to our home many times because his home was filled with strife and he felt loved and felt a peaceful atmosphere in our home and many times started joking and laughing.
There was a time when a person stayed in our home for a period of time. We were trying to minister to this person but she was rebellious, argumentative and brought strife into our home. We had to eventually tell her to leave our home and when she did leave we took authority over strife and other spirits she brought into our home with her and you could definitely feel a more peaceful atmosphere as soon as we used our authority.
Remember what Jesus told us in Matt 10:12 about coming into a man’s house and letting our peace settle in that house?
Matt 10:12-13 And when ye come into an house, salute it.13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. KJV
We carry with us God’s peace, hope, love and joy because God resides in us and with us. So when we go into a home, school, office, grocery store or wherever we bring an atmosphere of God’s peace, hope, love and joy into these places and people will start feeling God’s love for them and a sense of worth they didn’t have before, they will sense hope in their hopeless situation, their countenance will change because of the bubble joy they see on us and instead of worry and stress they will find themselves in a peaceful state and their day is changed because of it. So let’s release the love, joy and peace of Christ into the places where we go and create that kind of atmosphere. I believe this would create an atmosphere where God’s creative ideas and witty inventions would show up, the place where the atmosphere of God’s love, grace, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit resided.
I have gone into a home or talked to someone on the phone and I have picked up on strife in their home and they didn’t say a word or I have talked to a person on the phone and I just knew this person was depressed even though they didn’t tell me until after I had asked them if they were depressed. This is picking up on or sensing things through my spirit man’s senses.
I heard this Christian teacher tell of a time when he was working at a certain place for a period of time and he kept picking up on lust. At first he questioned if the Lord was dealing with him about lust but he knew that it was not him and as he got better acquainted with the other employees he realized there were certain people in the office with a spirit of lust on them.
So our spiritual senses of sight, hearing, feeling, smell and taste pick up on the atmosphere wherever we may be at home, school, business, church, grocery store, etc. and we need to pick up on them and allow the Lord to do whatever He wants to do.
