Why is God’s love unconditional? Because Bible scriptures tell us God is love. When you see the word “love” in the Bible Scriptures, you could translate it, “God”, for God is love. God can’t help Himself. He’s a love machine.
When I think of unconditional love I always think about God’s love for all of mankind. He so dearly loved and prized the world that He gave up His only Son so He could pay the price for all of men’s sins so that each and every one of them could be righteous before Him. Now that is unconditional love. He gave up His Son and Jesus gave up heaven to come to a sinful world to reveal the unconditional love of God.
God doesn’t even hate sinners. We would all be in trouble if He did since all have sinned. No, God hates sin. Why? Because sins kills the ones God loves. Sin steals from the ones God loves. And sin destroys the ones God loves. God’s not trying to keep us from having fun. No. No. He knows the outcome of sin, which is death and destruction.
Why do you think God created mankind? It wasn’t so they could worship Him and do everything He demanded them to do. No, the angels were created to worship Him and to serve Him without any objection on their part. God created mankind to love and so He could have a family. God desired a family so He could lavishly bestow upon them His unconditional love, wholehearted love, total love, complete love, unlimited love, and unqualified love.
In the Old Testament Bible scriptures, we see time and time again the unconditional love of God towards Israel and how time and time again they disobeyed him, went their own way and served other gods. Yet time and again He delivered them from all of their captivity.
To have a real good look at the unconditional love of God, read the book of Hosea. It reveals to us God’s covenant, unconditional love to Israel.
The Lord speaks to Israel through the domestic troubles of the prophet Hosea. God told Hosea to take a wife of whoredoms to picture the condition of Israel when God called and married her, bringing her into covenant relationship as His people. After a while Hosea’s wife, Gomer, left him to go after old lovers. He was then commanded to buy her back as his wife again, and to make a contract that she would never again go after former lovers. This was to teach Israel to return to God after forsaking his covenant and going after other gods; and God would marry Israel again and make an eternal covenant relationship with her. God wanted Israel to be His eternal people. They were to return to God by repentance, and God would redeem them eternally.
In this book, you can see God’s attitude toward each of us by expressing His love for us with everything that He does. If you read this book, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s unconditional love to you.
We see the unconditional love of God in the life, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Unconditional love poured out of Him even at the cross as He said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
If you have seen “The Passion” movie, I am sure you would agree that it was Unconditional Love Himself, Who willing laid down His life for you and me.
We also will see the unconditional love of God in the life of the martyr, Stephen, in Acts 7:59-60: And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. KJV
What about you? Can you love with unconditional love? If you are a born again Christian, the answer is yes. When you were born again of the Spirit of God, you took on the very nature of God. God’s unconditional love nature is yours now that you are born again. God, the Holy Spirit, now lives in you, the Holy Spirit seals your spirit and your spirit is wall-to-wall Holy Ghost. And the Bible scriptures reveal that because of the Holy Spirit living in your spirit; the love of God is shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit.
Galatians also speaks of the fruit of your spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, and self-control. This is your new nature and now as you meditate the Word of God concerning the unconditional love nature that you have, it will become more real to you and it will begin to flow as you yield to it.
Also, the revelation of Father God’s unconditional love for you will cause a desire in you to yield to unconditional love. That is your very nature. You’re born of love and now you are a love machine, unconditional love machine. The power of God’s unconditional love is what empowers you in the transition of your mind to the unconditional love nature you now possess and live out of.
In the following Bible scripture you will find unconditional love’s response to every day life experience:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. 5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. 6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. 7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. 8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. AMP
Let’s make this confession: My old man of self-love was crucified with Christ. I am now born again of Love. God Who is Love is my Father. I love unconditionally because that’s the very nature I received from Father God. I love my Father God and my Father God loves me. He loves me with unconditional love. His love towards me is steadfast, unfailing, steady, constant, enduring, faithful, and eternal. Father’s love never quits, never lessens. I am Father God’s love child. I am loved and I love unconditionally, with steadfastness, eternally, unfailingly, steadily, constantly, enduringly, faithfully, because that is my new nature. I am patient because I am love. I am not envious, jealous, boastful, or haughty. God’s love flowing through me, I am not arrogant and prideful, rude or act unbecomingly. The love of God revealed to me empowers me and I don’t insist on my own right, my own way, for I am not self-seeking, touchy, fretful, resentful nor pay any attention to a suffered wrong. I rejoice not at injustice done to someone or unrighteous acts of people, but I rejoice when things are done right and truth is prevailing. Because of God's unconditional love for me, I can always bear up under anything and everything that comes my way. It enables me to be ever ready to believe the best of every person. God's unconditional love makes me always hopeful in all circumstances and situations that come. I am empowered with God's unconditional love so that I endure everything without weakening in my love walk. Father God’s unconditional love for me will never come to an end in my life and neither will my unconditional love for Him, others and myself. That’s how powerful this unconditional love is in my life. God’s unconditional love is the most powerful thing in the universe and His unconditional love in me, for me and working through me is the most powerful thing in my life. It is causing me to live the high life of the spirit, manifesting the glory of God in my every day life. Hallelujah! I am free to live in the unconditional love of God and set others free, for whom Love Himself has set free is made free indeed.
