People in this world glorify wealth and wealthy people and the perception of prosperity.

Even in the Church people gauge their value and their worth by the amount of money they possess.

Some in the Church believe people will not listen to them if they are not really rich, really wealthy.  That kind of thinking is wrong for it comes from the world.

God could anoint you like He did John the Baptist who had a powerful prophetic voice and people flocked to hear him even though he wore raiment of camel's hair, a leather girdle about his loins and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

In our cultures the kind of car you drive is supposed to project an image of wealth and prosperity and from this people gain their sense of value, sense of prosperity and sense of worth.  This is a demonic trap for this is the manifestation of the love of money.  When you allow money to affect your sense of value, sense of worth and sense of prosperity, you are not faithfully handling the money because you are unfaithful to the Word of God.

  • Money is never to provide for you your sense of value.

Money doesn’t add value to you but is only a servant to you to fulfill through you the purposes of God on this earth.

  • God and His Word only add value to you.

Deut 6:4-9 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!   5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. NKJV

The Word of God only is to be your visible, public identification; showing and proving to everyone around you that everything in your life is a result of God, His Word and His covenant promises to you.  Your value, worth, and sense of who you are must be proven to come with your identity with Christ and your identity as a child of God.

I believe now and in the days ahead people will be continually asking me, “Who is your God?”  For my prosperity and value, worth and sense of who I am has come from Him and is evident to all.

Realize your value and worth to God far exceeds any value or worth anything in this world could give you.  Realize you are so valuable and are of such worth to God you were that precious pearl God purchased with the great price of His Son Jesus.  Because of your value and worth to God, God also honored you with joint seating in heaven with Christ and made you a joint heir with Christ.  You are valuable!  Know your value and worth comes from God today.

So why is it important you recognize your value and worth come from God?

  • Whatever you get your identity from is your god and the one you serve.

Ask yourself the question, “Where do I get my identity?”

  • From the clothes I wear?
  • From the house or houses I own or live in?
  • From the car or cars I drive?
  • From my job, ministry, business or career?
  • From my bank account, financial investments or wealth?

If your identity is with your money, possessions, bank accounts, investments or wealth then that is your god.  It is idolatry and the god you serve.

Those are really strong words but you must recognize these things, have true repentance, turn away from your false identity and God will help you if you ask.

If your identity is with your relationship with Jesus Christ then He is your God and He is the One whom you serve and He will see to your every need and give you your God given desires.

Jesus told you it is impossible to love God and love money.  So you have to make a choice.  Jesus told you, you will either serve money or God but it can’t be both.

  • You cannot get your identity from money and get your identity from God at the same time.

Getting your identity from money you will look to God, the financial principles of God, sowing and reaping, the blessing and promises of God as a strategy to get what you really want, which is more money. This is idolatry and wickedness.

You must get delivered from making money your source and God your Servant.

Money is a piece of paper and has no eternal value whatsoever.

You are bowing down to a false god and you have to have more and more of it to satisfy your desire for it

Take some time and do this exercise.  Getting your identity right means you will qualify for God to transfer the wealth of the wicked into your hands.  That’s how important it is for you.

Exercise:

Where do I get my identity?
From the clothes I wear?
From the house or houses I own or live in?
From the car or cars I drive?
From other possessions?
From my job, ministry, business, or career?
From my bank account, financial investments, wealth, etc.?
