You hear a lot about God’s will is to make His people millionaires.  I believe that is true but I don’t believe that is for everyone.

Some lust after wealth and money and riches and some are trapped in their success and desire to have the finest and get their sense of value and worth from the things they possess.

I believe in the prosperity of the Word of God and the abundance that God wants to give us in the covenant we have with him; but I also believe people who preach the prosperity message should preach along with the prosperity message the warnings of the bible about money, riches, and wealth and let Christians know there are dangers to money and wealth and riches.

How many of you have seen teaching like this?  I am sure very few.  I have heard a lot of prosperity messages but until I got this kind of information I didn’t really know the dangers of money and riches and wealth and so I had some repenting to do.  I found out I had been trusting in money instead of the anointing of God, making money my source and making God my servant.

Faithfulness and character should always be a part of the prosperity message so the devil doesn’t mess up a Christian’s life through money and wealth.

God wants to bless you with the prosperity connected with His Kingdom and covenant but then He also wants to warn you of the dangers of riches and wealth.  Here is such a warning:

1 Tim 6:6-11 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. NKJV

My desire at God’s Word Alive is not only to teach prosperity to you but also warn you of the dangers of money and give you checklists to avoid those dangers.

God has given you the power to get wealth, the promises of wealth and the prosperity of the Kingdom but these can feed the flesh of individuals who have not had their flesh crucified with Christ.  That is why God gives you warnings in scriptures of the dangers of money, wealth and riches and why I want to give you the same warnings through this teaching today.

Incredible blessings are coming to the faithful, but God warns you not to desire riches.  So be warned, watch out, look out because the message of prosperity in the life of an uncrucified person causes their flesh to love the feeling and sense of power and love the feeling and sense of prosperity which only sets them up for failure. The prosperity message feeds their flesh when it was supposed to bring the spiritual break through they needed.  The outcome of the prosperity message is either good or bad based on the heart of the person.  Some hear the prosperity teachings and they go off becoming greedy and desirous to be rich, they lust after filthy lucre or money and then they go astray. They become puffed up with pride and become arrogant because the power and prosperity touched their uncrucified flesh.  They had not died to self.

You need to be reminded the love of money is the root of all evil.

To survive in the great outpouring of God’s blessing you are going to have to die to self and what self wants and die to the desire to be rich.

The bible tells us that godliness with contentment is what gives us great gain. (1 Tim 6:6)

Here’s another warning Jesus gave us concerning riches,

Matt 13:22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. NKJV

“Cares of this world” are not worrying but they are distractions.  And Jesus told us it is the cares of this world or distractions and deceitfulness of riches that chokes out the Word from our lives.

God wants you to have the blessings of the Kingdom but He also wants to warn you of the deceitful, destructive, enticing, and inducing nature to money.  You must be aware of this now if you are going to handle this powerful thing called money faithfully, which is just the limited power of this world. You have to die to self and your desires to be rich just to be rich.  It is the deceitfulness to riches that will choke out the revelation of Jesus to you and choke out the Word of God.

Below is a confession to help keep your desires to be rich in check:

Confession:

I am living in the prosperity of the Kingdom of God.  I take heed to the warnings from the bible about lusting after money and riches, entrapment in success, desiring only the finest, and my value and worth coming from the things I possess. I will remain faithful to God’s principles of money and finances and trusting God and the anointing. My identity, value and worth will only come from my identity with Christ and the Word of God.  The promises of power to get wealth and increase more and more and the prosperity of the Kingdom are working in my life but they will never feed my flesh for it was crucified at Calvary with Christ.  I am dead to selfish desires to be rich just to be rich.  A new man in Christ Jesus, I pursue righteousness, godliness with contentment, faith, love, patience, gentleness and humility.  The riches God places in my hands will never have the place in my heart and life to choke out the revelation of Jesus nor choke out the Word from my life.
