We build up our spirit man like we do the body and the mind by diet (what we feed on), exercise and rest.

We can build up our spirit by entering into the rest of God and His Word and believing we received what the Word said.

How do we enter into rest?

1 Peter 5:6-7 Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, 7  Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. AMP

How much of the care are we suppose to give to Him?  All of it.  Then how much is left over when we give it to Him?  None.

In order to build up our spirit we have to enter into the rest of the Lord.  We are not responsible to build up a ministry or a church or a business or take on the burden of raising a family but we all are responsible to enter into the Lord's rest as He directs us in all things.  We need to endeavor to enter into His rest. Our spirit is built up by times of entering into that rest with the Lord.  A person with a strong spirit is a person who takes the time to rest in the Lord. Ministers especially need time to rest in order to be affective.

How do we enter into the Lord's rest?  Thinking about the Lord and His Word brings us into a restful state even when we are physically tired.  As long as we take the time to get with the Lord and think about Him and think about His Word then strength will come back into our spirit man and our body and tired mind as well.  In that time we can pray in the spirit which also strengthens our spirit man.  Praying in the spirit edifies and builds up our spirit man in our faith.

Jude 1:20  But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, KJV

As we enter into this rest then energy comes back even in our bodies and our spirit man is energized and our soul is refresh.  When we enter into His rest in His Presence then in no time we are back energized.  We all have to take that time with Him and His Word to enter into the Lord's rest and be energized.  I have done that so many times myself and oh the refreshing and energy that I felt in my inner man and my body was refreshed and my weary mind was refreshed.  Every minister, every mother and father, every business owner and business man/woman, all walks of life; every one of these believers have to enter into rest in order to keep their spirit man strong and in faith.  We can't depend on others.  We all have to feed our personal anointing.  We have to rest in the Lord in His Presence and in His Word.

Sometimes we just need a good night's sleep in order to be refreshed to do what the Lord told us to do or finish what He told us to do.  I have experienced this with what I have prepared for you by the Spirit on this website.  I would work on something and I just come to a place that I was just lost in how to continue but just a good night's sleep made me awaken refreshed and I just knew how to continue what the Lord had assigned me to do on the website.

We all can think more clearly, have a better perspective just resting in the Lord and rolling the cares of this world over on the Lord.

Believers have to take the time to rest.  We just can't keep busy and busy and busy and expect our spirit man to be strong.  We have to replenish ourselves in the presence of the Lord and with His Word.  We must replenish and especially when we give out what we have to others.

When we get weary there is a scripture that will help us enter into a rest of refreshing.

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] 29  Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. 30  For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne. AMP

Jesus is the Rest Himself.  Jesus told us to come to Him and He will give us rest that is true rest.  So we spend time in the presence of the Lord and that strengthens our spirit.

I know that when I am tired in body and weary in my soul that if I get into His presence and hear His voice and think about His Word then all that tiredness and weariness leave me.  I have gotten many answers that I needed in those times. My spirit man was strengthened time and time again as I made a point to get in His presence so I could communion with Him and He with me.  And oh the refreshing that has come to my spirit and my soul as I meditated on the Word and the Word He specifically mentioned to me in our communion.  The longer I am with Him and meditating His Word then the joy of the Lord rises up inside of me with strength.  I can feel that strength come into me every time.  I had entered into a place of rest and my spirit man was getting energized and getting stronger.  I have experienced this so many times that I know this is what I need to keep doing to enter into His rest.  My point is that I have rested while I waiting in the presence of the Lord.  This is the rest Jesus was talking about in Matthew 11.  I fill up and strengthen my spirit by waiting on the Lord.

Psalm 4:3-4 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. 4  Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. KJV

This scripture tells us that the LORD has "set apart him that is godly for himself".  "Godly" is doing exactly what the Lord told us to do.  In order to do we have to know what He said.  In order to know what He said we have to spend time with Him and meditating the Word.

We don't allow our car to run out of gas and expect it to continue to run and get us somewhere.  We have to fill it up again.  We go to the gas station and we take the nozzle and we put in the gas so the car will run.  That is a picture of waiting on the Lord.  We are sitting there and Heaven is being poured out to us.

I pour out to you on this website and as I do I get stronger but there is always the point that I reach where I have to go back into the presence of the Lord and wait on Him and meditate His Word and get strength to continue myself.  I feed on the Lord and His Word and build myself up again.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God:… KJV

Isaiah 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding. 29  He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. 30  Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; 31  But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. AMP

"No searching of His understanding", it means understanding is there, understanding is available and we don't have to beg for it.  We just go to Him and go to the Word and it is right there.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. AMP

As we rest by waiting upon the Lord we will build up our strength and build up our spirit.

Hebrews 4:9-11  There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10  For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11  Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief (children of Israel in the wilderness). KJV

Waiting is resting in the Lord.  There in that waiting we are not exerting but we are taking in.  We put our flesh down and get our thoughts under control.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. KJV

Kenneth E. Hagin's Book, "Following God's Plan For Your Life": (available at rhema.org)  He said, "As you spend time in God's presence, ministering to the Lord in praise and worship, it will quiet your mind and strengthen your spirit.  That is why spending much time ministering to the Lord will greatly aid you in developing your spirit.  What does ministering to the Lord mean?  It means to linger in His presence, loving and worshipping Him for all that He is and for all that He has done for you.  It means to drink in His glory and His power and to let Him saturate every part of your being.  As you spend time just loving and worshipping the Lord it becomes so much easier to quiet your mind and your emotions and focus on Jesus.  Take the time to let your body become quiet, let your mind be still, let your emotions subside until there is no emotion at all in manifestation that is coloring your thoughts.  Once your mind and your body are quiet, listen way down deep in your innermost being to what the Holy Spirit is saying to you."

I pray for you right now that you now enter into the Lord's rest by waiting upon the Lord and ministering to the Lord.  I pray as you wait upon the Lord and feed on the Word of God, as you walk in God's rest and as you exercise your faith then your spirit becomes stronger and stronger and even more stronger in Jesus' Name.  Amen.
