It takes a strong spirit to overcome life's issues.  Our strong spirit can get us through anything.  With a strong spirit we stay healed and well, stay prosperous, our family stays intact, we maintain a prosperous business and a thriving ministry, we have wisdom in business affairs, government decisions, ministry and family decisions just to name a few.

Proverbs 18:14 The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear? KJV

So this is why we need to develop a strong spirit and keep it strong day by day to sustain us in life subjected to fears, worries and concerns.  We keep it strong by reading and meditating the Word, declaring the Word of God, exercising the Word of God, and communing with the Spirit of God.  Giving time to the Word and time spent in the presence of the Lord strengthens our spirit.

Some of us may struggle with physical, mental, emotional and financial challenges but the stronger our spirit man the more we are able to look at any of these mountains and say, "Be removed and be cast into the sea," and strength arises on the inside of us and it comes out and that strength affects change in our lives.  We will overcome in this life because we have and maintain a strong spirit.  Our strong spirit will get us through anything.

2 Samuel 22:30 For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. KJV

This is David and David is an excellent example of a man with a strong spirit.  He faced many challenges but he accomplished much because He kept a strong spirit.  He was not given into defeat because he didn't give up and quit but he pressed on to each victory as we should.  We keep in the Word and communing with the Holy Spirit and we will get the healing, the miracle, the finances, whatever because we will not quit.  In these pressing times we recall the victories of the past and know that with God we will press into victory after victory after victory.  We keep doing what we know to do and we will come out.  We will have the manifestation of what we pressed into by faith.  With God we can do anything together.  We all can do this!

David said,

2 Samuel 22:32-34  For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God? 33  God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. 34  He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places. KJV

We need to declare this, "God is my strength and power. I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bears fruit in my season.  My leaf shall not wither and whatsoever I do shall prosper."  We need to declare and feed on that word and allow our entire being to be charged with those words.

Indicators of a strong spirit.

  • Strong spirit - what seemed impossible before becomes the easiest thing to accomplish.

As you become stronger and stronger and mature in the Word and are obedient to the Word things of the past that seemed hard are now easy.

It may look like you never will have a nice car or have a house but when you get on the Word all things are possible to you because you believe.  You just know you can do it.  We have the capacity to believe God as we strength our spirit with the Word and communion with the Spirit of God.

  • A strong spirit is assured and confident, full of joy and the peace of God.

Joy and peace are indicators, gauges of a strong spirit.

Nehemiah 8:10 …the joy of the LORD is your strength. KJV

The way to develop a strong spirit is to rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.

Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. KJV

We need to watch for the care of things coming up in us.  The moment we get under the pressure of things and the care of situations, we need to run to the Word of God and the presence of God.  Have the Word of God ready and speak those scriptures and declare, "I don't have a care.  I roll all my care over on the Lord."  We are not going to be a whimp.  We stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9  Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;13   We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; KJV

The only way to remain assured and confident and strong is stay in the Word of God and in communion with the Spirit of God; putting the Word in our eyes and going through our ears and bringing it out of our mouths and never be moved by anything else and never say anything else but what we believe.
