How can you limit God? We must remember God set it up that He has to work through people.  So, God wants us to not limit Him in what He wants to do for us.  Some times when you don’t trust God, the tendency is to limit Him. That was what happened with the children of Israel coming out of Egypt.  They did not trust God but trusted more in the Egyptian gods. You see that when Moses spent days upon the mountain to get the ten commandments and while he was gone they built a golden calf with the gold they got when they left Egypt and they got that calf in Egypt.

So, that tells me that if God gives us a lot of money, we got to make sure we are sold out to God or the next thing you know a calf will go up and we will have another god we are trusting in.  We have to make sure we get born again in our spirits and our minds have been renewed, for if it is not renewed then the tendency is to do it Egypt’s way and not really trust God.

2 Kings 4:1 (KJV) Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

Fear of the Lord, this is to remind us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. There is going to be a step of wisdom she is going to take and wisdom always has children, it always has results. So, fear of the Lord, that means his wife can put a demand on that anointing for wisdom to get her out of this situation, but she has to first fear the Lord.

The fear of the Lord is, reverent respect to keep His commandments; His commandment to tithe, so I am going to tithe. Fear of the Lord means to do what He says.

This woman feared the Lord and now notice when she puts a demand on the prophet who has the anointing, then wisdom begins to come forth.

2 Kings 4:2 (KJV) And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

In other words, I’ve tried everything I know to do in my natural mind. I’ve tried it.  I sold the TV. Sold my kid’s Nintendo game.  Sold everything.  But now I am out of money and don’t know what to do. I am against the wall.  It is amazing how sometimes we don’t really place a demand on that anointing until we get out of ideas. In other words, we have exhausted everything that we know to do.  Don’t do that last.  Seek the Lord first.  He said, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God.”

2 Kings 4:3 (KJV) Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

I want you to underline borrow not a few. Remember the Bible says the children of Israel limited the God of Israel.”

2 Kings 4:4 (KJV) And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

Now notice how wisdom gives you instructions. You first have reverential fear of the Lord, place a demand on the anointing and God begins to give you wisdom. This wisdom is going to be a way out.  He said there is no temptation taken you, but such is common to man, but God will always make a way to escape. So, you can guarantee that if you are in a fix right now, there is a way out.

Notice what happened.  The first thing was the fear of the Lord.  That’s the beginning of wisdom.

2 Kings 4:4 …and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

So, the Word will give you instructions. You will clearly hear Holy Spirit.

2 Kings 4:5-6 (KJV) So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. 6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

Now notice what the prophet told her, “Don’t borrow a few.”  God is saying, “I got plenty.  I am a God of abundance.  I am El Shaddai. God of more than enough. So, don’t just borrow enough.  Don’t just borrow enough vessels for me to fill up for just you and your household. I want to make you an oil barrenness.  I want to take you somewhere you have never been before.”

God can’t go any distance past what you believe.

Let’s look at Luke 5, this is Peter fishing.

Luke 5:1-4 (KJV) And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

Underline “nets”, with an s plural.

Luke 5:5 (KJV) And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Now that is not what Jesus said.  He said, “Nets.” Come on.  Get ready.  Don’t limit God.

Luke 5:6 (KJV) And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

 Here came fish from everywhere.

Luke 5:7 (KJV) And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

Notice what he did.  He limited the Holy One of God.

I am just saying, you got an issue, understand that God can take care of it.  He knows how to take care of it.  More than enough, too much, it says one place in Exodus; that the people brought so much, it was too much.

John 6:5-10 (KJV) When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? 6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. 8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him, 9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? 10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down.

Jesus knew that was plenty but in their minds it was not enough.  They limited the Holy One of Israel.

People get laid off, people are in bread lines now, they are lining up trying to get food; but here’s what God says about it,

Psalm 37:19 (KJV) They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

David said, “I was young and now I am old, but I have never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread.” (Psalm 37:25)

God’s people will have more than enough if they fear the Lord.  You will have more than enough if you don’t limit God.  You’ll have more than enough if you just do what He says in the Bible. Guaranteed He will take care of you no matter what comes in this environment. I want to encourage you in that.  In this time of shutdown in nations, don’t let the circumstances, don’t let relatives, and don’t let anybody on the news stop you with their bad news from doing what the Lord tells you to do with your finances for these Kingdom spiritual laws work even in financial famine in a nation.  You will always come out on top because He will continue to bless you even more in these times. Don’t let anything stop you.

I declare over you, that you are going to be among the ones that do not limit God; and from this day forward, you will never be broke another day in your life.
