If you want to hear the voice of the Lord or you desire to hear it more clearly then I believe I can help you.
In John 16:13 Jesus tells you how the Spirit of the Lord will speak to you so pay close attention to what He tells you.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. KJV
First of all, Jesus told you the Holy Spirit would guide you into all truth. Secondly, the Holy Spirit would speak but not of Himself because the Holy Spirit only repeats what He hears from the Father and Jesus. Thirdly, the Holy Spirit is here to show you things to come.
I hope you felt a sense of peace and security in the Lord’s guidance when you read John 16:13 as I did when I read that scripture. The Holy Spirit is here to be your Guide through your daily life. He is here to speak to you what the Father and Jesus needs for you to know. The Holy Spirit, not a fortune teller or a psychic, will tell you things to come. So the Holy Spirit communicates to you in three ways; He will guide you, speak to you and show you things to come.
I really believe if you are having difficulty hearing the voice of the Lord it would be good for you to meditate the scripture, John 16:13; speaking it out loud several times so it gets down deep in your spirit and then pray a prayer asking the Holy Spirit to guide you, speak to you and show you things to come. John 16:13 is confirmed by two scriptures I want to share with you from Galatians 5:16 and also in the Old Testament from Isaiah 11:1-5 which speaks of Jesus but this scripture applies to us because we are in Christ and living after the Spirit. Gal 5:16 But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). Isa 11:1-5 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. KJV
Christians need to have a working revelation of these powerful scriptures and receive this kind of help from the Spirit of God. We qualify for the Spirit of God dwells in us. So He makes available to us the Spirit of wisdom and understand, Spirit of counsel and might, Spirit of knowledge and fear of God (knowing and desiring the will of God), just as Jesus did when He lived as a man on the earth; and we no longer live as mere men/women but the Spirit of God makes us of quick understand in the fear of the Lord and we shall no longer judge after the sight of our natural eyes nor reprove after the hearing of our natural ears. Then we have righteous judgment of all things. We judge all things by our spirit man’s senses; seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, and smelling in the spirit. We are truly walking after the spirit and no longer just living as a mere human nor a carnal person nor by trial and error.
You think Solomon was wise, will One greater than Solomon has come and He lives in us and I believe the Church is going to have greater judgment of all things in these days by the Spirit of God who lives in us that will go way beyond the wisdom Solomon possessed.
Seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, and smelling in the spirit are all a part of normal Christianity. Seeing Jesus, angels, demons, the throne room, heaven and other things of the spirit are a part of normal Christianity for it was a part of the New Testament Church in the Book of Acts.
I believe when you read the Book of Acts you see normal Christianity. They saw and they heard things in the spirit realm. They saw angels, they had third heaven experiences and they had visions to name a few. I think it would do Christians good if they would read the Book of Acts and take notice of the supernatural encounters that are recorded there because we are in our day writing the last chapters of the Book of Acts as believers in Christ.
So in addition to this material I have prepared for you I would give you the assignment of reading and meditating the Book of Acts and observe the spiritual encounters the early Church experienced and know this is available to you also.
We need to renew our minds to the truth we are not limited to just the natural, physical realm for we are not just mere men/woman but we are spirit beings born of the Spirit of God which makes us supernatural. We are supernatural beings seated right now in heavenly places at the right hand of Father God so this should not be strange to us that we can see or sense things in the spirit. We are ambassadors of the Kingdom of God and so this requires that we have contact with heaven through our spiritual senses.
Adam and Eve had contact with both earth and heaven at the same time and they saw God and they talked to God and He talked to them before they sinned and even after they sinned. So they could see in the spirit and they could hear God in the spirit realm.
Then we read in the Old Testament about seers who also saw and heard things in the spirit realm.
We see it all through the Bible where people both saw and heard things in the spirit realm. Adam and Eve both saw and heard God even after the Fall and then all these other people, including seers, saw and heard in the spirit after sin come so we can’t use the excuse sin separates us from this. I am reminded how Jacob saw the ladder come down from heaven and angels were ascending and descending the ladder from earth to heaven and heaven to earth. Jacob saw in the spirit and heard things in the spirit. It is all through the Bible and is our vantage point in Christ to the hurt of our spiritual enemy; so that we also can effectively hear God’s voice and carry out His plan in our time while on the earth.
Most people who want to hear God speak to them, they expect to hear basically a loud speaker in their brain. They want to hear words. But notice Jesus told us in John 16:13 the Holy Spirit does not communicate to us verbally but He guides us and shows us. Some of it comes in picture form and some of the guiding is in others ways we will discuss.
We are going to be showing you through examples in the life of Christ how He heard the voice of God that I believe will be of tremendous help to you.
So let’s get started with the help of the Holy Spirit and start living our lives after the spirit. This is going to be an exciting adventure with the Holy Spirit!
