Simeon was just the opposite of Moses.  He didn’t reason out this revelation God had given him that he would see the Messiah before he would died and come up with his own timing or location or anything else.  No, he stayed true to his calling there in the temple and Luke 2:27 tells us, “Who came by the Spirit into the temple.”  Simeon did it the right way.  He waited until the Holy Spirit prompted him and then he went into the temple and there he saw baby Jesus.

Luke 2:27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, KJV

There in the temple Simeon saw the Messiah, a six week old baby who was being dedicated.  God had not told him the Messiah was going to be a baby, but he was satisfied when he saw the Messiah.

We must learn the lesson that just because we have a revelation we can’t start putting the thing together and decide how God is going to make it come to pass.  We must not try to help God out like Moses did.  Rather we must be like Simeon and wait until we are prompted by the Spirit to put it all together or take some action.

Moses eventually did follow the prompting of the Spirit of God when he had the burning bush episode and he went back to Egypt and got the Israelis delivered from Egypt by the signs and wonders of God and the mighty hand of God did it all through Moses.
